GIANTSTEP designed, created and implemented an augmented reality (AR) fashion runway in collaboration with designer Hyejin Hong’s THE STUDIO K. This event was hosted during the 2018 S/S Seoul Fashion Week at Dongdaemun Design Plaza. This event marked the first time in Korea that an entire runway was presented with augmented reality graphics to accompany the show.

Under the concept of an 8 bit retro game, THE STUDIO K’s constumes are reimagined as 8 bit pixel designs. The program consisted of 3 stages: 1 – School, 2 – Tennis Court and 3 – Pool Party. In each stage, GIANTSTEP developed characters and objects that could play along with surrounding elements in real space. GIANTSTEP also created 8 bit replicas of actual models, including programming so they could interact together as they walked on the stage.

We were also honored to receive a Grand Prix from &Award in Digital Technology.
